my space

I used to have an entire wall full of elfa office shelves. We moved a few years ago and I wasn't able to use my new space in the same way. I also downsized my supplies by a ton so it actually worked out well. Right now I am using this blue desk.

This little corner is where I "dump" my current embellishments. I think having a small space helps you keep your supplies from overflowing. This right side keeps my current papers and stickers and a basket of books and mini albums. I love this natural light I get right next to my desk. And my little air plant that I do very little to keep alive :) I also have a big cart behind this space that wasn't photographed but carries some oldish supplies that I sometimes dig into. And some other photo boxes that have all my photos I pull from and some stamps and ink etc. Because this space is part of my bedroom, I'm determined to keep it neat(ish) and tidy(ish). :)

the hub

i was grabbing my hardly used camera and running out the door, so i clicked a random picture to make sure there was a card inside. i almost hit delete when i realized, A the light looks really good in here right now, and B this is my hub. this is where i cook, organize my day, make lists, throw my mail, put most things that need to go away at a later time. it's pretty messy but then again, so is life. i love my hub and i love my life.

memories of highschool memorabilia

the other day i had a desire to frame a bunch of chris' polaroids that he's taken for us. i meant to do it streamlined and neatly. the result was a little this and that, much like my scrapbooking pages end up. i wanted to hang it somewhere in the main part of the house but then i thought, uh, it looks too high schooly. but i still loved it. so it went on top of my bedroom dresser. i love it. 🙂

i was definitely the kind of girl that covered every inch of her bulletin board with pictures and memorabilia. pages torn out of magazines covered my walls. cute to see that kira has done the same- mag pages starting to creep up her walls. 🙂

kitchen string of love and winner

i have this large empty kitchen wall that i plan on printing and framing some pics.. since i haven't started the steps to get this done, i strung up some twine and added some of our favorite polaroids.

tea

harney chocolate mint tea. i've moved from individual tea bags to buying it in bulk 🙂 i love it that much.

tea strainer. i actually couldn't find my exact tea strainer, chris got it for me as a gift from new zealand. but this link has some nifty looking ones, that srawberry one is too cute!

i also recently printed this print that chris took at the marvimon and have it displayed temporarily above the stove. i love it so much i want to enlarge it for my kitchen wall 🙂

that's it. i have just been loving so much interior design stuff that i see on the internet, it really can suck up so much of my time. proof here 🙂

so i've been trying to be better at documenting my own home and learning to love it as it is 🙂 i am ever so grateful that i have a warm home to live in, a great neighborhood, etc. i am, i am.

picnic weather

it's been high 70's this past week, and will be so (hopefully!) for awhile more! perfect weather for trekking her crew on the porch for lunch. sundresses and elsie have reunited. headband has made an appearance. she's been sporting them when she thinks it's a fancy occaision. she looks gigantic to me lately. sniff sniff!

jump

to be filled with endless energy and curiousity, i cannot remember what that's like. she looks at my bed and sees a trampoline. my bed is my refuge. it's hours of rest. my haven.

this year is a big year for our family. we face work situations that constantly make us think about where we are now and where we want to be. in september kira will start her most important high school year. elsie will start kindergarten. though it's only a little chunk of time daily, i will start to think about where i want to be, where my dreams are headed. the thought of them all in school makes my head spin and my heart hurt a little. when els goes i will have been a stay at home mom for SIXTEEN years. so then to think of me and where i want to be while they are busying their minds, sometimes makes me want to crawl into that bed but then again, at times, i want to jump. i will embrace both emotions 🙂
